What is 8 minute support?
I heard about this from Simon Sinek, author and inspirational speaker on business leadership. He coined @Simon Sinek 8 minute support. Texting your friend, “hey, do you have 8-minutes?” is code for “hey, I'm really going through it and I just need someone to listen.” Communicating using this code between friends allows both parties to understand the significance of the phone call and the time expected of you to provide support.

How do we use this?
We use this way of reaching out to each other through our Supporters WhatsApp group. If one of us is feeling down and going through hard times, they have an option to send a message to the group: "DOES ANYONE HAVE 8 MINUTES?"

NOONE IN THE GROUP IS OBLIGATHED TO ANSWER, but if there is someone who has time and is able to answer, they can. A private call can follow, where the person reaching out could share what is happening to them, and the person who responded to the call can just listen.
NOONE IS ONLIGATED TO GIVE ADVICE, OFFER A HEALING, OR DO ANYTHING, SIMPLY LISTERN AND HOLD SPACE!!!
