ABOUT DANCE WELLNESS

Dance Wellness is part of the Guapea Dance School lead by Clara Nieto, professional dancer and teacher of traditional Cuban dances.

As part of our vision on building communties and supporting health and wellness, our Dance Wellness programs offer classes and social dances that blend learning dances such as Casino, Rueda de Casino, Afro-Cuban, Rumba, Bachata, Rueda de Bachata, and Cha cha chá with exploring body awareness, and developing connections, not only with our dance partners, but with ourselves!

The programs are designed for anyone who has never danced before, and for those who want to continue their learning process.

Clara is a professional Cuban dancer and teacher of traditional and contemporary Cuban Popular Dances with 9 years of professional experience who believes that dance unites, transforms lives and allows us to be an authentic version of ourselves.

Korana Stipetic
Korana shares teachings, healings and experiences with love, compassion, and gentleness in service of creating a world of balanced relationships and love. Her teaching and healing services draw from her veterinary and energy medicine backgrounds and experiences from professional programs focused on personal growth and collaboration.

DANCE CLASSES
CASINO AND RUEDA DE CASINO - BEGGINER

Discover the vibrant world of Cuban dance with our Casino and Rueda for Beginners class! Perfect for those new to dance, this course introduces you to the energetic and social styles of Casino and Rueda de Casino where you will learn to dance both with partners and as a group! You will be supported by Korana Stipetic and guided step-by-step, ensuring you have a solid foundation and plenty of fun along the way.

What to Expect?

  • Basic Steps: Learn the basic steps and turns of Casino, a Cuban partner dance with unique circular movements.

  • Partner Dancing: Master the art of dancing with a partner, focusing on connection, leading, and following techniques that ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.​

  • Rueda de Casino: Experience the excitement of dancing in a group circle, where couples exchange partners in synchronized patterns called by a leader, creating a dynamic and communal dance environment.

  • Technique and Timing: Understand the essential techniques for leading and following, and practice timing your movements to lively Cuban music.

  • Social Dancing: Gain confidence for social dance settings, and enjoy the camaraderie and connection fostered by Rueda de Casino.


What to Bring?

  • Comfortable clothes and dance shoes

  • Water bottle

  • Positive attitude and readiness to have fun

SOCIAL DANCES

Come and join us for a fun and joyful time, dancing together, and sharing in the beauty of the community.

Our social dances usually happen on a Saturday, from 7pm to 10pm, and are held in the Community Center in the village MartinšÄ‡ica on Island Cres.

No previous experience needed because the danse starts with an hour long lesson.
